“Charitable foundation named after Maxim Klimov” was established on July 17, 2014. This Foundation was established in memory of a remarkable person, a talented businessman, a philosopher, who was dreaming of helping the talented scientists with any researches in the field of transplantology development and in related medical trends.
None of the achievements of modern medicine is as effective, as the human organs transplantation. Historically, a kidney was the first organ, transplantation of which has been performed as an experiment, and then in the clinic. Since then, the global transplantation community made a remarkable progress from single clinical attempts to widespread availability and recognition of transplantation as a treatment of acute and chronic diseases of heart, liver, kidneys and lungs. 50 years ago that was a risky experiment for limited use, but now it has become a routine clinical practice in more than 80 countries around the world. What was available to a small number of patients of several leading medical centers in the richest countries is now changing the lives of patients in many countries with high- and middle-income.
There are still a lot of outstanding issues in the field of transplantology. These are: study of tolerance, improvement of immunosuppressive protocols, treatment of infections and many others. Scientists all over the world continue working in this direction. The Charitable Foundation “Charitable foundation named after Maxim Klimov” established in July, 2014 is intended to contribute to the further development of transplantology.
